after chrysler and the fact checkers had said it was simply not true. jeep was actually expanding its production in the u.s. the reason it was thinking of building, that it's planning to build a plant in china is to meet the increased demand for jeeps in china, so it was just blatantly false and yet they persisted with it. >> you know what's interesting, too, remember when the chrysler ceo, sergio marchione had to put out a statement basically saying, liar, liar, pants on fire, this is not going to happen. that's never, or more nicely i'm obliged to unambiguously restate our position. jeep production will not be moved from the united states to china. it is inaccurate to suggest anything different. there were strategists who were stunned that this ad, that this was being said, because they thought it was kind of signaled a desperate move. what was the runner-up, what was the next runner-up that could have been picked as the biggest lie? >> well we had ten finalists and i should note that we had a reader's poll where we also allow readers to vote on their top choice. the reader's to

could this law pass in michigan? >> the irony is yesterday chrysler announced $120 million investment in michigan. 115 new jobs. michigan has helped lead the economic comeback for this country in part because of historic collective bargaining agreements between the detroit three and the united autoworkers. we have a labor management partnership that works. this, as you said was about politics. it was about gutting organized labor and the irony is i work for a labor management fund connected with a laborer's union and we invest almost $5 million a year in apprenticeship and training programs. we operate skilled workers to build complicated infrastructure projects like the governor wants to build in this state. so it will make michigan less competitive. it puts us in a race to the bottom with low-wage, low-skill states, that's bad for our state. >> eliot: tim, you were one of the leaders in the legislature. many of us looking at michigan and think is a state that voted for president obama. just re-elected debbie stabenow to the senate. you are as blue as a state can be. what explains th

quote, we believe that if gm and chrysler gone into freefall bankruptcy they would have taken the supply base down and taken the industry down, but maybe turn the u.s. recession into a depression, closed quote. that is a teaching moment about the power of the overall innovative skill set, the supply chain, and what that means for our capacity to compete when the company that would've been left standing thought they might have gone down as well. so, there's so much to say. i want to make these viewpoints, overall perspective, talk a little bit about manufacturing, about research and develop skills, and i'd be very happy to take your questions going forward.
